FAQs

  • Art licensing is essentially a type of rental agreement in which you lease artwork from an artist or designer. In my case, you can license my design(s) non-exclusively or exclusively (more on these options below). As a licensee, you pay a fee to the licensor (the artist) to use the artwork in accordance with the terms you have agreed upon with the licensor.

  • A non-exclusive license allows you to choose one of my existing designs to be manufactured by your preferred printer and sold as finished goods in a single category. The design may also be licensed non-exclusively to other companies at the same time and will continue to be available for purchase on websites such as Spoonflower, where other people can buy the design printed on fabric, wallpaper, and other products.

  • The terms of use for an exclusive license are negotiated and agreed upon by all parties before any design work begins. As the designer, I retain the right to use the design for any other purpose not specified in the licensing agreement during the licensing period. For example, if you have exclusively licensed a design for baby bedding, I may also license the design for a different category, such as wallpaper or women's apparel. At the end of the term, you will have the first opportunity to renew the design. If you decide not to re-license, the rights to the design will revert back to me.

  • As the designer, I retain all copyright and ownership of the artwork and all derivative works at all times. Buy-outs can be negotiated at a higher price.

  • Pricing is determined on an individual basis — I take many things into consideration when I am pricing for your project.

  • Yes, all my pattern designs repeat seamlessly on all four sides, so they can be printed continuously.

  • Most pattern designs are provided as high-resolution repeating tiles in .png file format. Generally, they are 3000 x 3000 px and 300dpi unless another format is requested. They can be either CMYK or RGB, depending on your printer's preference. I can also provide Pantone colours if that is something your printer requires.

  • Yes, please let me know if your printer/manufacturer needs the artwork layered.
